It’s thursday and I’m already looking forward to visiting Sweetwater again for the third time. Sweetwater is an organic, urban farm in Tampa and holds a Farmer’s Market every sunday from noon to four. They sell a wide variety of organic produce grown right on the premises and other items available from elsewhere. They also invite other vendors to participate, selling everything from eggs, raw milk, seeds, and plants to natural cleaning products and clothing. The atmosphere is great too; it is uplifting to be surrounded by positive, progressive minded people, people with whom I often find myself in random conversations with. It is a far cry from the lonely, quiet journey we’re used to taking down cold, fluorescent drenched supermarket isles.
Each week I stock up on my vegetables and fruits and typically pick up extra items that intrigue me or would like to try. Last week I picked up a bottle of sugar cane syrup and a bag of dates, both of which I’ve never tried before. The trip to Sweetwater is quickly becoming a weekly tradition for me and I encourage everyone I meet to visit them at least once.
